When you plan a shoot around a couple who is from the East Coast but planning their wedding back in their homeland of Minnesota you get deep indigos, watercolor galore and a lobster bake that is out of this world created by Crave Catering.
Planning this shoot was amazing because of all the wonderful vendors pulled in, but when the day actually came magic happened. The flowers, those invitations, that dress... everything was perfect.
Thank you to everyone who partnered on this lovely shoot! We will never forget the beauty of this day and how our mouths were blue from those delicious macaroons from Cocoa & Fig. As much as we enjoyed the day no one had more fun than our farm dog Bagby who ran around the farm draped in flowers and barking "BEST DAY EVER!"

There are some weddings you wait all year for and the wedding of Alyson + Joe was a much anticipated one!
Alyson + Joe were the first couple to book Birch Hill Barn when we launched; they even booked without seeing the space, as they live in California and couldn't make it out for a tour. It meant so much to us that they trusted our vision and in us. At the time they booked we didn't have our patio done so we only had the blue prints to show them and we hadn't hosted our first event yet!
They partnered with some of the best vendors to make their day so beautiful! A Day In Provence knocked this wedding out of the park with that floral arch, which Joe's grandfather made for Alyson + Joe to get married under. And I mean lets talk about the foliage wall!
Alyson + Joe thank you so much for trusting in us to host your wedding and having faith in what Birch Hill Barn was going to be when you booked. You will always have a special place in our history and hearts.
Enjoy this gorgeous day captured by the very talented Geneoh!
So excited to share this amazing shoot we did last year with some of the most talented vendors the MSP area has to offer! What you cannot tell from the images below, because lets be honest they are stunning and Melissa Oholendt is so crazy brilliant, is this shoot did not go as planned. We were supposed to have a perfect fall day, but as you know nothing is guaranteed when it comes to the weather. Once we had everything set up on the day it started to downpour and we had to rush to get everything covered. And when it was not pouring there was a constant mist that stuck to everything, but that didn't stop us from doing what we do best...creating beauty.
Thank you to all the wonderful vendors for partnering on such a stunning shoot and making the best out of a freezing, wet day! The shoot was featured on Ruffled last week so make sure to head on over to check it out on their site!

2015, what a year it was! It was our first season hosting weddings and working with amazing couples.
We will NEVER forget our 2015 couples. We will remember all of your names, your wedding dates and all the wonderful details of your day because you were all our first. You all allowed us to be a part of your adventures and share in your special moments. We cannot thank you enough for opening your lives to us. Thank you for trusting Birch Hill Barn to host the most special days of your lives.
Also thank you to the most wonderful vendors we met along the way. You all are so talented; more than you even know. We so enjoyed working with you and cannot wait to work with you all again in 2016!
Enjoy some of our favorites from 2015!
Margaret + Shane are a couple that everyone wants to be best friends with and that includes us! It was such an honor to plan and help make their wedding day come to life. They are some of the most genuine, sweetest people you will meet and the love they have for each other is so real everyone could feel it on their special day.
The day started with the wedding party sitting around chatting and arranging flowers and ended with everyone on the dance floor participating in a traditional barn square dance. The whole day was beautiful, but Shane stole the show when he preformed Randy Travis's Forever and Ever, Amen for his bride.
Margaret + Shane you are so lovely and we are so happy to have shared in your day with you. We are so excited for all your new adventures as husband and wife!
Kristin + Matty are one cool couple and the details of there day did not let down. Kristin choose the most wonderful vendors to work with to execute on her design that turned out beautiful. I mean lets talk about those gorgeous floral crowns by A Day In Provence! We loved the color palette of muted water colors that was woven through the day and you will be seeing more of this color palette in the year to come with the release of Pantone color of the year being Rose Quartz and Serenity.
Kristin's father passed away before the wedding and he wrote the most touching note to his darling daughter and her groom which the mother of the bride read. It was one of the most memorial parts of the wedding and had everyone in tears. Kristin + Matty it was a pleasure working with you to help you create your beautiful wedding!
Hanna and Chris are a very adventurous couple and wanted their wedding to speak to that aspect of their relationship. Hanna wanted to wow her guests and surprise them with her aisle...the aisle being the large hill behind the barn! Hanna hid up the hill for 30 minutes while her guest awaited for their wedding ceremony to start and when it was time for the bride to walk down the aisle here came Hanna emerging from behind a tree hand and hand with her father as they made their way down to the alter on the fire pit. Talk about a grand entrance!
Hanna + Chris your day was beautiful and are so thankful you wanted to spend the first day of your marriage with us!
We could not have wished for a more perfect day than Kelsey and Paco's BIG day. Kelsey and Paco are that dream couple you wish to work with and their families were just the same. This hot July day out on the farm was filled with so much love, laughter and Spanish flare, as Paco is from Spain. There was not a dry eye in the house as these two exchanged their emotional, bilingual vows out on the patio. Everything about this wedding had a sweet personal touch to it from the signature drink named after their beloved dog, to the traditional Spanish sword that they cut their cake with.
What stood out the most was how much these two loved their families and wanted them to be a part in their day. From the minute we met Kelsey and Paco during their tour, on a cold November day, they were dead set on getting married on the same day as Kelsey's parents anniversary. They did not want their own day, but wanted to share it with them. They even had a surprise cake for her parents to cut while they cut their own.
Kelsey + Paco it was such a pleasure to host and plan your wedding alongside you. We could not have asked for a sweeter couple and family to work with.
This day was perfect. The weather was perfect, the details were perfect the mood was perfect, but even if it wasn't that would not have mattered to Shasta and Chris. They are one of those couples that do not get fazed by anything and at the end of the day all they wanted to do was get married and declare their love for one another in front of their family, friends and the Lord.
Every detail was spot on from the eucalyptus draped off the handmade wood tables Shasta's father made for the event to the pennant banners hanging from the beams. One of our favorite details from this whole event was the entire suite of paper goods. Shasta is one very talented women and had the most amazing calligraphy.
Shasta + Chris thank you for sharing your special day with us; you and your family were a joy to work with.
This lovely day was 4 months in the making when we invited Emily Steffen and Lizie Anne to come check out the venue before we launched last June. When they approached us to do a shoot in the fall we knew we had to jump at the invitation as you do not pass up working with those talented, wonderful, amazing (can you tell we have so much LOVE for them) women!
We were inspired by the colors of wine, gold, deep reds and LOTS of greenery, as greenery really pops against all the natural wood in the barn. We knew we wanted the floral decor to be different so we wanted to incorporate fruit any way we could. We turned to the lovely and talented Tara of A Day in Provence, (couples if you are looking for a florist look no further than Tara as words cannot describe how she makes your inspiration come to life!) We used figs, eggplant, pomegranates, wine grapes, blackberries, black ligustrum berries and plums throughout each look whether they were atop the cake, sitting on the table or placed in the bridal bouquet.
This day had so much beauty and today we are honored to have the shoot featured on Style Me Pretty. Thank you to the wonderful team that made this day possible.

This wedding will always be a wedding we will never forget. Not just because it was Birch Hill Barn's first event, but we will always remember it because it was the day our dearest friend got married to the man of her dreams. Amy and Abe live in Spain and when we got the phone call from Amy to host their BIG day while they were visiting the States we were beyond honored that they would want to be our first event.
The day a had a brisk chill in the air but that didn't stop anyone from enjoying Amy and Abe's special day. Their ceremony was so personal and touching as Amy's dad officiated the couple. The decor was gorgeous from the vintage chandelier to the lace laid on the tables. The day was perfect from start to finish.
A+A thank so much for allowing us to be a part of your beautiful day. It was a joyous occasion filled with lots of love, laughter and flamenco dancing!
